
Bernard
C. Wetzel, Ph.D.
With a
doctorate in Counseling Psychology and 25 years
in business, Bernie provides his clients with a rare blend of education
and experience. In 1997, he founded Wetzel Consulting providing executive
coaching, organization development consulting and facilitation services
to companies and non-profit organizations. He was previously Director,
Executive and Organization Development for Westinghouse where he
designed and implemented leadership development initiatives and provided
consulting services and executive coaching to its businesses. Dr.
Wetzel also spent ten years as Manager, Management and Organization
Development for Westinghouse Credit Corporation.
Bernie is a member of Marshall Goldsmith Partners, LLC. MGP brings
together world-class coaches with complementary skills in leadership
development and feedback, executive education and coaching, and strategic
and organizational change.
Bernie has coached numerous executives in multiple corporations in
many different industries. He is certified to use a variety of assessment
and development tools. As an internal, he was one of a team of executives
that designed and developed an executive coaching program for a large
multi-national corporation. This was supported by the CEO, adopted
by all business units and used in the key leadership review process.
And, he worked with a team of HR executives to develop and integrate
competencies into an assessment and coaching process. He was also one
of three internals to coach senior business unit leadership.
Dr. Wetzel has consulted on over five hundred management team development
and strategy meetings. For example:

for large family-owned holding company and
four of its operating businesses.

Designed and facilitated series of retreats
for CEO and partners of large ($1.25 billion)
venture capital firm.

series of ten “Chairman’s
Initiative” meetings. Provided new
CEO with opportunity to have structured dialogue
with top 160 senior executives and assess
their leadership capability. Enabled CEO
to shape his position on various issues and
deepen senior executive understanding of
his vision, values and strategies

Conducted a series of seven team building
meetings with different configurations of
an IT management group. Assisted group in
making major transitions forced by dramatic
industry and technical changes.
An experienced speaker and presenter, Bernie
designed and delivered all internal management development courses
at a financial services company. And, as presenter of “Implementing Strategic Organizational
Change,” he was ranked in the top two or three, out of twenty
presenters, in seven straight internal executive
programs. Presenters included top business school professors and senior
management.
Dr. Wetzel earned his BS in Economics from
Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his Master’s and Ph.D.
from the University of Pittsburgh in Counseling Psychology.
