Maue MSW CAEP
Carolyn Maue is an expert in designing,
promoting, and directing programs that address
complex human service issues in today’s
organizations, results-oriented strategic planning,
effective leadership and management skills, and in developing high-quality,
financially sound programs, services and products in the field of
human services.
Ms. Maue provides consultation to a variety
of organizations, concurrently serving as the Executive Director
for the American College of Mental Health Administration. “ACMHA” is a national policy and
advocacy organization that serves as catalyst for mental health administrators,
identifying and determining best practices and practical application
in mental health delivery. Ms. Maue’s regional and national
consulting opportunities currently include assisting
client organizations with program analysis and redesign, facilitation
of retreats and workshops in diversity and coping with stress, and
designing and facilitating a supervisory training series in a nationally
recognized not-for-profit organization.
During her sixteen years as a workforce and organizational expert,
she has directed successful, award-winning and highly profitable programs
with reputations for outstanding quality and service. Ms. Maue held
several key positions at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center,
including leading the strategic planning process for the Department
of Community Initiatives, reporting to the president and board of
directors of the Health System. As the Vice President of Workforce
Culture from 1999 - 2002, she created and instituted initiatives to
increase and promote an increasingly diverse and flexible workforce,
increase cultural competency in healthcare delivery, and implement
programs that assist lower-paid employees prepare for healthcare careers
in the future.
From 1991 through 1999, Ms. Maue directed the growth and expansion
of the UPMC Employee Assistance Program from an internal department
serving 7,000 hospital staff members, to a revenue-generating center
that served 55,000 households in 34 organizations, resulting in annual
revenue of over $1.3 million, with a 20% profit-margin. Prior to her
positions at UPMC, Ms. Maue directed the three Pittsburgh offices
for Personal Performance Consultants, which provided EAP services
for national and regional companies, including Westinghouse Electric
Company nuclear divisions, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Pittsburgh
Pirates.
Ms. Maue has published and presented nationally
and regionally on topics including: The Business Case for Diversity,
Preventing Sexual Harassment, The Cost of Stress to Business, Conflict
Resolution, Substance Abuse in the Workplace, Family and Work Life Balance,
Managing Through Organizational Change, and the Employee Assistance
Role in Workers Compensation. Ms. Maue is a licensed Social Worker with
a certificate in gerontology. A Certified Employee Assistance Professional,
she serves as adjunct faculty in the University of Pittsburgh School
of Social Work. Ms. Maue serves on the Executive Committee of the Pittsburgh
Symphony Orchestra New Leadership Board, is a board member of the YWCA
of Greater Pittsburgh, is a member of Leadership Pittsburgh XVI., and
serves on the Carlow College Leadership Advisory Council.
