
Irene McAllister
Irene McAllister is an experienced human resources consultant with
a background in organization and leadership development and strategic
human resources systems. Irene has expertise in helping organizations
assure that their people systems are aligned with business strategy.
She works closely with senior leadership teams to find practical, business-oriented
solutions to difficult organization issues. Her focus is on helping
managers achieve success by developing positive relationships at all
levels.
Irene has provided consulting and training
for managers in leadership skills, performance management, succession
planning, and positive employee relations. She has developed strategic
human resources policies and processes for companies of all sizes,
and facilitated focus groups and organizational assessments. Irene
has particular expertise in helping new leaders quickly transition
to their responsibilities by facilitating a new leader assimilation
process with the manager and his or her team. This process accelerates
the new leader’s productivity by several
months, by promoting immediate, candid and
open communication concerning matters relevant to the group and their
relationship with the manager.
Irene has held several senior level positions
with diverse organizations. Most recently, she was vice president
of corporate services for Tuscarora Incorporated, a packaging company
with sales of $300MM and over 40 manufacturing locations in the United
States , Mexico , and the United Kingdom . At Tuscarora, Irene led
the human resources, quality, safety and environmental affairs, procurement
and marketing functions. Prior to that, she was the vice president
of human resources for the company, and was responsible for starting
up the human resources function and developing strategic policies
and procedures. Irene also was a human resources manager for General
Electric’s Power Systems business,
and is a graduate of GE’s prestigious human resource leadership
training program.
Irene earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marquette
University and a Masters in Industrial Relations from the University
of Minnesota . She is a member of the Advisory Board and Past President
of the Pennsylvania State University ’s Beaver campus of the
Commonwealth College . She has been a lecturer in St. Francis University ’s
masters in industrial relations program, and teaches human resources
management for Penn State University ’s HR certificate program.
She is a member of the Society for Human Resource
Management, and a past board member for both the Pittsburgh Human Resource
Association and the Pittsburgh Human Resource Planning Society.
